Fenugreek seeds (methi), when given in varying doses of 25-100 g daily, diminish reactive hyperglycemia in diabetic patients. It is very effective in curing diabetes due to the presence of the alkaloid trigonelline, which brings down the blood sugar level.
Its seeds can be consumed by diabetics in different ways. A teaspoon of the seeds can be swallowed with water daily. An alternative is to soak the seeds overnight in water and take them first thing in the morning. The soaked seeds can also be dried and powdered, and the powder taken with milk in doses of one teaspoon, twice daily.
