We all know that there are two categories of diabetes - type 1 and type 2. Both the types of diabetes tends to increase the level of blood glucose and it becomes more than the normal which in result affects the other parts of the body.
Type 1 is commonly termed as insulin dependent diabetes. It attacks our body when the immune system attacks and destroys the cells of the pancreas which produces insulin. The most common form of the diabetes is type 2 diabetes. It is also famous by the term non-insulin dependent diabetes mellitus (NIDDM) or it is also called adult-onset diabetes. It is different from type 1.
In this condition there is a production of insulin but it is not sufficient for our body to work properly. Glucose is literally unable to enter the cells for supplying energy. Due to this condition the level of blood glucose increases and it gives pressure on the pancreas to produce more and more insulin for the proper functioning of our body which results into wear out of the pancreas especially due to overtime working to produce extra insulin. The condition of the pancreas becomes so pitiable that it is no longer able to produce sufficient insulin to maintain the balance in the blood sugar level.
The development of type 2 diabetes totally depends on the condition of the pancreas whether it is in the position to produce sufficient insulin to keep the blood sugar to its normal range. If repeatedly and continuously the level of blood sugar is high then it is a confirm sign that a person has developed this disease.
Teens and kids suffering from type 2 diabetes use exercise, diet and medicines which improves the response of the body towards insulin to control the level of blood sugar. Some people require to take insulin pump or insulin shots too.
It is very important for the persons associated with type 2 diabetes to treat other conditions like high blood pressure, obesity and abnormal blood lipid (fat) levels as these conditions are associated with the condition of diabetes.
It is also very important for the kids suffering from type 2 diabetes to get regular exercise, monitor the levels of blood sugar regularly, regularly intake of medications and also to eat a healthy, balanced diet following a meal plan.
Most of the kids when diagnosed by the type 2 diabetes are overweight so they must be promoted to eat healthy and also to improve physical activity as these activity will prevent further gain in weight and it also encourage weight loss.
